  1. Myrtle Beach gas prices rose 43 cents in the past week. Analysts predict there will be no relief in sight as the nation hits all-time record highs. Prices on the Grand Strand are approximately $1.34 higher than on this date a year ago, averaging at $3.89 per gallon. (WMBF)
  2. On Sunday, Wreaths Across America held a fundraiser at Robert H. Reed Recreation Center near Market Common in tribute to The Greatest Generation. Every cent of the ticket price went to the organization towards its goal of placing wreaths at Florence National Cemetery in honor of the 15,000 veterans buried there. I was there — the show was fantastic! (WPDE)
  3. Myrtle Beach Pelicans: Four juvenile brown pelicans were reintroduced to the wild after receiving care from the Carolina Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Our thanks to the center for inviting us to participate! - - - #MBPelicans. The birds were released at the beach behind Plyler Park and the SkyWheel. The public was welcome to observe, from a safe distance. An area was roped off to avoid stressing out the feathery friends. If you listen carefully at the end of the video, someone asks if the four pelicans bonded, and will they stay together? The answer is: yes! (Instagram) (WMBF)
  4. The City of Conway, along with the Clemson Extension Program and the South Carolina Forestry Commission got together to uproot an invasive tree species. On Saturday, the city held an event aimed at getting rid of an overabundance of Bradford pear trees, an invasive species that had been planted here in the 1990s because of their beauty and ease of care. Unfortunately, nobody knew how invasive the trees would become. Bradford pear trees are those white, fluffy, trees that almost look like a lollipop. Residents who turned in a Bradford pear tree at the event were given a replacement tree, native to South Carolina, in exchange. (WBTW)
  5. Rockin' Jump trampoline park is getting ready to kick off its spring break and summer camps and programs for kids. Painting classes will be taught by Crystal Frye, a local artist who owns EZ Easel. Follow the links inside the article to sign up for spring break day camp, summer camp, and art classes. (wpde.com)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
