Basa Fillets – Basa is a variety of catfish native to Southeast Asia. It’s a very bland fish that takes on the taste of the ingredients it is cooked with.

I prefer fresh Basa fillets, which are much tastier and healthier than frozen ones. But you can also make it with frozen Basa if they are unavailable.

If you use the frozen Basa, thaw it and drain all the water. Dab the fish with a kitchen towel to remove extra moisture.

Tomato Puree – For the best taste, Use canned tomato puree. You can also replace tomato puree with tomato paste.

Lemon Juice – Use freshly squeezed lemon juice (or lime juice) for the best taste.

Others – You will also need fresh ginger, garlic, Asian Red Chili Paste, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper powder.

You can adjust the quantity of red chili paste per your preference.
