What is the mobile/data mean when viewing my text messages under my usage section of my bill.
When i am viewing my text messages on my bill so.etimes there is no number just a date and time and where it usually says mms , it will just day mobile data. Is that a different type of message , i just want to know who texted me on thatt date and time. Just curious as to why there is no number listed. It just says mobile data.

Your explanation helps so much. Where on your photos it shows uninstalled apps and how much data that uses. How does something uninstalled use any data? What would account for that? I’m assuming that meant old apps you’ve deleted for the month. If you never used or redownloaded any apps you had uninstalled that number next bill cycle would be 0. Example. Kids shouldn’t have Snapchat. Could that number be showing consistently on uninstalled apps because they download it. Then uninstall it when asked to check their phone etc. Then reinstall it later whennthe cosst is clear?

I'd say it used the data BEFORE it was uninstalled.

No. While an app would use data to IF downloaded over cellular, I'd think it would list that data under the app store and not under snapchat. But it would report under the app if they repeated the pattern that you mention...

If data has been reset on an iPhone, all values zero. So if there is a value in the uninstalled apps, then someone removed an app that did use data. If you prohibited Snapchat because of data use, I suggest you let that go, but cap her/his data use and follow up by turning the data off on the line (in the My ATT Account) Teach the kiddo how to monitor data (seems they get it) and let them figure out how to stay under the cap you set and of course deal with consequences if you turn data off.

So if we go back later we can see a number or something about these mobile data? I’m just wondering if they are coming from another number or coming from an app? Are they messages from someone? Is there a way to see them at some point? Thanks!

Mobile data is data you used on your phone. The photo I posted off an iPhone shows the list of apps that used data. “Numbers “ as in talk time, does NOT use data. FaceTime does and it would show data usage under the FaceTime app in your list. SMS does NOT use data. iMessage does, again, it shows in the list of applications that used your data.

Did you read the entire thread? Like post 12 for example?

Your phone shows and tracks all it’s data use live and the record is on your settings.

Post 12 shows what it looks like on an iPhone. iPhone do not reset with your bill cycle, so must be manually reset each time your data plan renews.

Android devices have a data tracker built in that tracks by bill cycle and can keep all prior months data statistics as well.

That answer is wrong Tim. If I log on to check text msgs, let's say at 7:00 am., the AT&T site shows mobile data for all text msgs. This is true for an Android and iPhone. Then I log on an hour, or whatever, later and this time the site does actual texts msgs, and for the iPhone, will site both, depending if the iPhone user used normal text or iMessenger. Why does AT&T do this?

AT&T reports data up to 72 hours later (longer if roaming).

IF you have two iPhones BOTH configured to have the Messages app use the "iMessage" protocol, then that should be pure data and those messages should only show up in the data section at att.com and not in the text messaging section (as these are nottext or MMS messages).

Is there a way to find out if the mobile data was iMessages to another iPhone or no?

🤔. . If it’s iMessage it has to be to another iDevice of some kind. But data does not identify anything other than it was data. You can’t even tell it’s an iMessage.
